James Marsh has described the film as a dark comedy, and that he plans to use 'Boogie Nights' as a model in terms of tone. The story is about Mulligan's femme fatale character, who with her husband, kidnap a man and bury him alive for ransom money. She seeks to rekindle her high-school romance with Pattinson's character. It is based on a true story. [Source: Cinema Teaser interview.]
During a promotional interview with MTV for 'The Great Gatsby' in which she stars, Carey Mulligan said that 'Hold On To Me' is on hold for now, but they still hope to do it. She noted a timing issue.

"MAPS TO THE STARS"
Starring Robert Pattinson, John Cusack, Julianne Moore, Sarah Gadon; Mia Wasikowska; Olivia Williams, Evan Bird. David Cronenberg, director. Martin Katz will again produce, with others.
This will be the second collaboration between Cronenberg and Pattinson. The script is written by Bruce Wagner. IMDB describes as a "Complex look at Hollywood and what it reveals about Western culture." The Film Stage has said it "revolves around actors and agents, with a specific focus on “two child actors ruined by Hollywood’s depravity.” David Cronenberg has said, "“Hollywood is a world that is seductive and repellent at the same time, and it is the combination of the two that makes it so potent. I won’t fall back on some clichés or simplistic sloganeering, because the culture and what it reveals about Western culture and the rest of the world is very complex.”
David Cronenberg will shoot this film in Toronto and Los Angeles in July 2013. It is to be released in 2014.
Starring Robert Pattinson. Director unknown at this time.* Produced by Ross M. Dinerstein and Kevin Waller.
Pattinson will play Eric Maddox, the military interrogator who discovered the hiding place of Saddam Hussein, which led to his capture. From Embankment films: "[Maddox] has a unique ability to decipher complex patterns from seemingly random events." Story is based on Maddox's memoir, "Mission: Blacklist.
The latest information on the film is at embankmentfilms.com (under "Markets"; it will be shopped at Cannes) and the former director's name, Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, has been removed. The shoot date is now listed as late summer 2013. The release date of summer 2014 has not changed.
Cast includes David Cronenberg, Denis Lavant ('Holy Motors'), Isabelle Huppert ('Amour'), and Sigourney Weaver. To be directed by Italy's Luca Guadagnino ('I am Love').
Another teaming of Don DeLillo, Cronenberg, and producer Paolo Branco ('Cosmopolis') the film is based on DeLillo's novel, 'The Body Artist'. Huppert stars as a grieving widow who discovers that a stranger is living in her upstairs room.
Shooting is scheduled for summer 2013.

This is an independent blog created out of excitement for this film bringing together a talented young actor, Robert Pattinson and the auteur director, David Cronenberg. It was created by kat, and the primary writer since 2012 has been BuckyW, who will continue forward as lead blogger. BuckyW has taken classes in film and literature in recent years for fun, and to do justice to the content scope here at the blog. This included a university course taught by a Don DeLillo scholar. BuckyW is for Bucky Wunderlick, protagonist of DeLillo's 'Great Jones Street'.
